With support from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Prosperity Fund, the Geology department of Leicester University organized a series of seminars in September aimed at strengthening Chilean professionals’ knowledge of key areas such as drilling and blasting and tailings management.
In order to reach industry professionals working in the field, three seminars were carried out in Antofagasta, Chile’s mining capital, in addition to one in Santiago. With 55 attendees from companies such as Mantos Copper, Sierra Gorda, Minera Esperanza, Codelco, Minera Zaldivar and Enaex as well as the Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco), Sernageomin and the Antofagasta Industrial Association, these seminars provided an opportunity to share knowledge and discuss key challenges facing the Chilean mining sector
Envision Consultores worked with staff from Leicester University and the British Embassy in Chile to coordinate the seminars in Antofagasta, including arranging travel, venue, catering and simultaneous interpreting as well as promoting the seminars and courses among mining professionals in the region.
